Staff Software Engineer – Agritech

Amsterdam | 115k - 150k | Permanent

Staff Engineer Amsterdam · Hybrid · Scale-up

This one is for engineers who’ve seen scale and know what it costs.

Not the kind who’ve read about distributed systems. The kind who’ve been paged at 2 am, inherited someone else’s mess, and still shipped. Battle-tested is the phrase that comes to mind, but still naturally curious.

The company builds software that sits inside the infrastructure that feeds people. Food production at scale is complex, operational, and full of real-world constraints where decisions have genuine consequences.

They’re financially stable, on a path to profitability, and hiring with intention, not urgency. Right hand technical arm to the CTO.

What you’ll actually be doing

Working directly with the CTO and engineering leads on the high-leverage problems. Simplifying architectures that have grown complex. Improving reliability on systems other teams depend on. Spotting where things will break before they do.

No waiting for perfect specs. You’ll be expected to take initiative, make calls with incomplete information, and own what you ship end to end.

Stack includes Golang, Python, Databricks / Delta Lake, PostgreSQL, and AWS. Judgment matters more than tool familiarity.

Who this suits

What’s on the table

€115,000 – €150,000 + equity. Hybrid out of Amsterdam, in-office Mondays and Thursdays. Pension at 4.5%, learning budget, and a solid home setup allowance. The usual practical stuff, done properly.

Why it’s worth a look, IMO.

Strong, senior team. A technically interesting problem space. And a company that’s clear on where it’s going.

This isn’t a role where you maintain the status quo. It’s a role where you raise the floor.
