Senior Android Engineer – Low Level / Native Development

Amsterdam | €80-€90 euros. | Freelance

Imagine I asked you to find a footballer.

Easy enough.

Then I tell you I don’t actually want a footballer. I want a goalkeeper who’s also good enough to play centre-back.

Suddenly the market gets much smaller.

That’s basically what’s happened here.

On paper it’s a freelance Android role, which sounds straightforward enough. Except the contract starts almost immediately, is initially 6 months (with a strong likelihood of extending to 12), and is paying €80-90/hour.

Then you add low-level programming, C, Rust, security and Android internals into the mix.

Now you’re not looking for Android app developers anymore. You’re looking for systems engineers who happen to know Android.

The challenge isn’t finding Android contractors. I can find hundreds of those.

The challenge is finding the handful that sit at the intersection of Android, native development, security and low-level engineering, who are also available now and interested in a 6-month contract.

And that’s what I need, like tomorrow.
